George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones 5-Book Boxed Set (Song of Ice and Fire Series) (A Song of Ice and Fire) George R. R. Martin 4.7 out of 5 stars 52,159 Season 6 was the first season that saw Game of Thrones pass fully beyond the books, and many viewers (including this one) were nervous to see if the series could handle it. That was the name he had when he was taken as a slave. But Grey Worm is the Season 4. Season 4—based on the longest A Song of Ice and Fire book, A Storm of Swords —sits firmly in what can be considered the “good” Game of Thrones. Picking up immediately after the The Game of Thrones ending left plenty cold, but HBO is hoping House of the Dragon will warm everyone up to Westeros again. And unlike the final seasons of Game of Thrones, smug book readers
Tyrion's character was one of the biggest victims after the show surpassed George R.R. Martin's books around Seasons 5 and 6. Over the final seasons of the show, he continually made poorer and poorer decisions, even to the point where he trusted his sister Cersei (Lena Headey) to send the Lannister army north to fight the undead.
In A Dance with Dragons, the fifth book in the series, a fake Arya is sent to Winterfell to marry Ramsay Bolton instead of Sansa, while the real Arya trains with the Faceless Men in Braavos. This significantly changes Arya's arc and the future of the North in the books. The Northerners rally together to save "Arya Stark" from the Boltons, with Tyrion's Downfall. Tyrion Lannister quickly became a fan-favorite on the show and is likely still the most popular of all the characters. However, the show really let the character down in the final seasons. As Daenerys' advisor, Tyrion makes countless mistakes and poor decisions despite once being the master strategist. Season 1 is a great adaptation of Game of Thrones and the changes serve to make a more cinematic experience and/or easier to actually film. Very pragmatic changes in general. I still would argue seasons 2-3 are very good adaptations, and season 4 is a great season but significant changes. major plot point and story beats and arcs are still there. ss0897I.
