I cannot find lock and key cylinder grease anywhere except as a Mercedes dealer item A002 989 06 51 or MB-Lock-Grease (Part # 002989065105). From the posts I have read, people have really helped some lock issues with this grease. One guy said it will not solve the sticky ignition switch problem.

I opted for the different key as central locking makes the original key for the doors almost redundant
Another way to troubleshoot your Mercedes ignition switch problem is by using a spare key. Insert the spare key into the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) and attempt to start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts, the problem could be with the original key. Replace the battery in the key fob or consider having a new key programmed for your vehicle.

Now you have to go to the stealer/ dealer order a lock, comes with the housing, lock and original key key. Ask to get the plastic locking cover, and an ign. switch. The next thing is to get the schematic to put the right wire in the right hole, and you're done. Looks that they spliced the wires to install a stereo.
I have the same problem this morning in my 2001 E320. The remote key unlocked the car, but the key will not turn in the ignition. I jiggled the steering wheel, jiggled the key, checked the fuses, and jumped the battery. Nothing has worked. I talked to an independent shop, and they think the problem may be the ignition switch.
