A number of revisions ago, LOTRO was made "Solo Friendly." There is no longer a requirement for Fellowships (6 person groups) to make it through the Epic quest line as there once was. I've been playing since pre-beta (I'm a Founder / Lifetimer) and even though I belong to an active Kin (The Old Timers Guild) on Gladden, I play 99% of the time solo.
Gameplay: Champions wade into battle swinging their weapons in all directions, dealing significant damage to many foes at once. With each strike, their Fervour grows, allowing them to use even more potent skills. Special stances may be used to greatly increase damage dealt at the cost of defence, or enhance defence at the cost of the damage.
